A Boy and His Dog (1975)
A Boy and His Dog is set in a future post-apocalyptic world where apparently dudes and dogs travel together for fun and profit. One particular dude, Vic, and his telepathic dog, Blood, travel around looking for things to eat and women to rape. Blood can only talk to Vic for reasons that aren't explained and therefore are not important.
Blood seems to a lot more intelligent than Vic and he appears to have a much greater knowledge of history among other subjects. So Blood often coaches Vic on things to say and since only Vic can hear him no one is the wiser. Blood has pretty much all the entertaining and witty dialogue in the movie. I love Blood, I wish I had a dog like that.
Now it gets a little hazy because the movie has so much going for it. But Blood and Vic are walking across the wasteland eating and raping everything in sight (which isn't much). Blood spends his days dreaming about popcorn and explaining Nietzsche to Vic. But Vic is an idiot so he doesn't get it. Vic is also kind of a dick to Blood and gives him a hard time whenever an opportunity for popcorn can be had.
At some point Vic splits up from Blood and goes into an underground vault, big mistake. Without Blood Vic is useless and the movie really takes a shit. Not to mention the vault dwellers are a bunch of degenerates and Vic almost gets raped or killed or something.
Vic is gone for a long time and Blood almost dies of exposure or something on the surface waiting for Vic to get back. But eventually he gets back and he brought a vault lady with him. But she's useless so Vic and Blood eat her, problem solved. Anyway Vic and Blood walk off into the dawn because sunsets are cliche and Blood attempts to explain string theory to Vic. Silly Blood, Vic is too dumb to understand.
The End.
